He couldn't vary his game enough or follow Dimitrov's example," Toni Nadal's take on Alcaraz's lost Wimbledon final
After five victorious Grand Slam finals, Carlos Alcaraz fell yesterday against Jannik Sinner in the Wimbledon final.
Despite winning the first set, the world No. 2 gradually lost his footing in the match. For the newspaper *El País*, Toni Nadal shared his thoughts on the level of this final and what Alcaraz lacked to secure the win:
"The match wasn’t as brilliant or spectacular as we’re used to seeing from both players. I think they both felt the pressure of the moment during the game. This led to low first-serve percentages and some avoidable mistakes.
Alcaraz dropped his intensity. He showed intermittent and inconsistent play. Little by little, he lost confidence in his chances of winning. He couldn’t vary his game enough or follow the example of Grigor Dimitrov, who, in the round of 16, had won the first two sets against the Italian. Only an injury prevented him from defeating him.
