"I am totally annoyed by players who withdraw and then play the following week. There should be a rule to prohibit this," these are the words of Gauff's former coach, Brad Gilbert, describing Vondroušová's withdrawal from the US Open.

Indeed, the Czech player had chosen to skip her quarterfinal match against Sabalenka just minutes before the start of the encounter.

While the American did not hold back, her response was not long in coming, as she stated on Instagram: "I am going to criticize athletes because they are injured. I am also disgusted, Brad."

For the record, the 64-year-old man had also indicated that "many athletes should be banned from their next tournament, as some use this process as a way to stand out and get out of it when things get tough.

Pretty dumb comment - a former Wimbledon champion who has had a history of injuries starts the year outside the top 100 climbs her way back to 36, beats the best of the best , makes a quarter and has to withdraw - give her the benefit of the doubt dude. Shes no snowflake. Shes literally one of the biggest talents out there who’s had the worst time with injuries and missed years because of them. Your mind doesn’t let you play freely. Shes right.

Brad Gilbert should sit down for the remainder of the season.

Since February 2022 and the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, Ukrainian sport has been heavily affected by human, structural and economic losses. Tennis has, of course, not been spared. While Ukrainian athletes have had to rethink their entire organization, an entire country, behind the scenes, has had to adapt and change its training conditions. This extends all the way to the highest level, where professional players have spoken out, trying as best they can to help their nation.

As we move to the end of this month and also closing out the year I am wishing all of those following me a Merry Christmas and a Happy/Healthy New Year.

Let's make that wish for all 2000 plus players hoping for 5 wins each day. Hoping ŵhen we open the results page to see all green, and no red. And especially NO CANCELED matches.

From me and my rotti JAZ, I bid you all good night, and see you in...

why did tennis tonic void predictions on the match between Chwalinska and Huergo at the Quito tournament? The match was played to completion and on time. If TT feels the match is one sided, and of course it was, then don't put it up for prediction. This is getting irritating.

The finals are here, and we scramble for the best finish. I've been chasing "King" all year and I was able to shrink the spread a little. Skelp is also closing the gap.

Seasons best to all the regulars in our league.

Will you all be back in the new year.?

Steffi Graf completed a Golden Slam (not just a career Grand Slam) when she was 19. She is the only person to accomplish that, winning the four majors plus Olympic gold the same calendar year.
