"I can't change the mind of someone who has made this decision," Shnaider reflects on the end of her collaboration with Safina

World No. 15 Diana Shnaider is not having an ideal 2025 season. Struggling with consistency in her results, the Russian player has changed coaches multiple times.
After hiring Dinara Safina and Marius Copil, the 21-year-old has been working with Carlos Martinez for several weeks now. In an interview with Sovetsky Sport, Shnaider looked back on her brief collaboration with Safina, which lasted just over a month.
"I haven't spoken to Dinara (Safina) since the end of our partnership. We parted on good terms. There were no accusations or arguments. We just had a calm conversation.
She explained her position to me, and I accepted it. I can't change the mind of someone who has made this decision. The only thing I could do was accept it and move forward," she said, before discussing her new coach, Carlos Martinez.
"Honestly, it's very hard to find a good coach with whom you click and feel comfortable. Right now, I'm working with Carlos (Martinez).
We'll see how things develop—we’ll probably talk more after New York (the US Open). You can feel comfortable on the court but not off it. It’s very personal.
Of course, my main goal is to finally build my team, one where I feel comfortable and where we share the same objectives. We’re trying to work as effectively as possible day by day.
I can't say yet that I'm 100% satisfied with Carlos, since we’ve only played four tournaments together," Shnaider concluded in her recent remarks to the local media.
