"I did a good job to get here," says Cobolli after his loss to Djokovic at Wimbledon

Despite a strong fight, Flavio Cobolli ultimately fell to Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon quarterfinals. After winning the first set, the Italian, ranked 24th in the world, succumbed after more than three hours of battle (6-7, 6-2, 7-5, 6-4 in 3h10).
After the match, the 23-year-old player, who was competing in his first Grand Slam quarterfinal, reflected on his elimination and believes the match could have—and should have—gone even longer.
"I think I played very well. I’m very proud of my attitude on the court. It wasn’t easy playing on Centre Court for the first time. The first set I played, I don’t think I’ve ever played that well in my life. I did a good job to get here.
"I gave everything on the court, I’m happy with my tournament and my level of play. I’m a little sad because I think I deserved to play a fifth set, but the tournament remains very positive. I need to recover well to prepare as best as possible for the American tour.
"I tried to be aggressive with my forehand from the start. I did it pretty well today, but it wasn’t enough because Novak (Djokovic) is a legend of this sport. He was better than me on the important points, and that made the difference.
"He always pushes you to your limits. I’m happy to have shared the court with him. At the net, he told me I played a great match and had the right mindset on the court. He also said I’ll be in the top 10 soon and stay there for many years.
"After the first set ended, I didn’t have the same adrenaline as at the start of the match, and I felt it in the second set, but I had to react. It was better in the third, though I’ll need to reflect on what happened to me in the second.
"I think it might be due to my lack of experience at this stage of a Grand Slam. Playing more matches like this in the future will surely help me manage this aspect better," Cobolli elaborated to *Punto De Break*.
