"I expected to play on Centre Court or Court No. 1," Rybakina criticizes match scheduling
Winner at Wimbledon in 2022 and a semifinalist last year, Rybakina left the English capital before the Round of 16, defeated by Tauson (7-6, 6-3). Questioned in the press zone after this disappointment, the Kazakh player pointed to the day's scheduling, questioning the court assignments.
"This isn’t the first time it’s happened, but I expected to play on Centre Court or at least Court No. 1. Those are courts where everything is more comfortable due to the lack of wind, especially on days like today. In any case, the conditions were the same for both of us, and I wasn’t able to adapt."
For context, only Centre Court and Court No. 1 have a roof at Wimbledon. Other players must wait when weather conditions are unfavorable.
