"I feel a bit like at home," Jacquemot overjoyed after qualifying for the semifinals in Guadalajara

Elsa Jacquemot made a strong impression in Guadalajara, securing her first main tour semifinal after defeating Tatjana Maria in a thrilling match. The young French player shares her thoughts on her performance and her progress over the past few months.
Jacquemot will play her first WTA Tour semifinal at the Guadalajara WTA 500. After her wins against Maria Sakkari and Elise Mertens, the world No. 83 Frenchwoman came from behind to beat Tatjana Maria (3-6, 6-4, 6-4) and will face Emiliana Arango for a spot in the final in Mexico. After securing her place in the final four, the 22-year-old player shared her initial impressions with L'Équipe.
"It's incredible for me, it's my first WTA 500 semifinal. I've played great matches against very good players. The center court is amazing, the crowd is fantastic, I love the atmosphere, so I feel really good, a bit like at home.
In the final set, I was leading 4-1, she came back and there was pressure, stress, but I really tried to fight until the end because I knew the opponent wouldn't give up the match.
I try to stay as calm as possible, as zen as possible, as clear-headed as possible. I think I've gained maturity and confidence. I'm being much more aggressive, I understood that it was necessary.
I have a really offensive game and I needed to become more of the boss on the court, I think it's a realization, and then there's the confidence that comes with victories. It's pretty cool," assured Jacquemot, who currently sits at No. 61 in the Live Rankings.
