"I feel like I made the same mistakes as I did on hard courts in March," Swiatek reflects on her loss to Tauson
Iga Swiatek was eliminated in the round of 16 at the WTA 1000 in Montreal by Clara Tauson. A disappointment for the Polish player, who could have hoped to reclaim the world No. 2 ranking with a title in Canada.
During the press conference, as reported by Tennis Actu, she reflected on her defeat: "For sure, in the tie-break, I made too many mistakes.
In the second set, I felt Clara was still in her momentum and that I hadn’t really solved my problems.
I also made too many mistakes on balls I could have handled. It’s clear I didn’t play perfectly here. I still feel like I need to adjust to hard courts.
And these matches are also a way to relearn. I feel like I made the same mistakes as at the end of my hard-court season in March."
Swiatek will have a chance to bounce back at the Cincinnati tournament in the coming days.
