I have no interest in setting goals," says Dimitrov on his return

I have no interest in setting goals, says Dimitrov on his return

Grigor Dimitrov has perfectly succeeded in his return to competition. The Bulgarian had not played since his injury sustained on July 7th at Wimbledon against Jannik Sinner.

Facing Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard this Monday at the Rolex Paris Masters, Dimitrov easily won 7-6, 6-1. After the match, the Bulgarian opened up for Ubitennis.

"For now, I'm taking it day by day. I have no interest in setting goals. My goal is always to come back next year and to ensure I play properly the entire season and stay healthy.

That is my current goal, in fact. So, every day I'm on the court, whether in training or in a match, being able to hold up, that's already a success.

I had a great summer, well, a wonderful time. I was able to do everything I wanted and rest a bit, since I wasn't playing.

But the rehabilitation wasn't easy, especially after our first month; that was the period where I really had to work hard. Mentally, I felt really good, for a reason I don't know.

I was kind of waiting to relax a bit, and the hardest part was, I'd say, the two weeks before my return, because I was creating my own expectations, I felt good when I was playing, but you never know how things will go.

Then I started to feel a bit of excitement, but during all that time, everything was very simple, and I was training exactly as much as I needed to.
