For the fourth time in five editions, Novak Djokovic will be absent from the Cincinnati Masters 1000.
Absent since his semifinal defeat at Wimbledon, the former world No. 1 has opted for additional rest to arrive in optimal shape for the US Open. However, this decision is not unanimous, as highlighted by Jimmy Connors, who shared his concerns in his latest podcast.
"I think about Djokovic. You can’t count him out. But I would have liked him to go to Cincinnati and play two or three matches.
The only thing that worries me is that he left Wimbledon in the semifinals, which was a very good result, but he didn’t play as he wanted and lost in three sets. Then he takes two and a half months off—he has a family and he’s relaxing. But you never know!
