Imperial, Draper Wins His First Masters 1000 at Indian Wells!
There was no contest between Jack Draper and Holger Rune this Sunday during the final of the Indian Wells Masters 1000.
The Brit, coming off a brilliant victory against Carlos Alcaraz yesterday, delivered a flawless match from the first point to the last, facing an opponent completely overwhelmed by the stakes of the match (7 winners to 18 unforced errors).
Draper, who will enter the Top 10 tomorrow, was untouchable on his serves, winning 89% of points behind his first serve and hitting ten aces, all without conceding a single break point.
Rune quickly lost hope in this final, and after just over an hour of play, he fell 6-2, 6-2 on the center court of Indian Wells.
Finally free from the physical issues that plagued him last season, Draper claims the first Masters 1000 title of his career and will be ranked 8th in the ATP rankings tomorrow.
For Rune, this marks his third defeat in a final of a tournament in this category, following Monte-Carlo and Rome in 2023.
