"It's always the same story," Azarenka complains to the chair umpire about Swiatek in Bad Homburg.
This Tuesday, in the round of 16 of the WTA 500 tournament in Bad Homburg, Iga Swiatek won her first grass court match this year. Challenged by Victoria Azarenka, the Polish player eventually managed to prevail in two sets (6-4, 6-4) and advanced to the quarterfinals where she will face either Ekaterina Alexandrova or Maria Sakkari to try to reach the semifinals.
However, the match was marked by a discussion between Azarenka and the chair umpire at the end of the game. The Belarusian, dissatisfied with the time Swiatek took to serve at certain moments of the match, didn't hesitate to express her frustration to the umpire, as the score was 6-4, 5-4, 15/30.
"It's always the same story. Every time she's behind on her service games, she takes her time. She exceeds the allowed time, and you don't even watch, every time," Azarenka complained before losing the match three points later.
