It's going to be fun to share the court with her," Rune discusses his partnership with Anisimova at the US Open
As the highly anticipated mixed doubles event at the US Open approaches, many players are sharing their thoughts on their respective partners. This time, it’s Holger Rune’s turn to express his feelings about this new format introduced by the American organizers. Paired with Anisimova, the Dane seemed delighted about teaming up with the Wimbledon finalist:
"It's a great idea from the US Open to organize this tournament. Among singles players, especially the top ones, very few actually want to participate in mixed doubles. It usually takes place during the second week of a Grand Slam, when rest is often more needed at that stage.
So I think it’s a fun idea to hold it during the preparation week. Amanda has played very well in the past. She obviously reached the Wimbledon final. She was available and really excited to play. Honestly, I don’t even know who contacted who.
Because, you know, agents handle all that. But for my part, I’m super happy. She’s a great player, a really nice person, so it’s going to be fun to share the court with her.
