"It's hard to assess," Ljubicic discusses French players' results at Wimbledon

Despite strong performances from some, French tennis ultimately failed to reach the second week at Wimbledon. While Rinderknech eliminated Zverev and Bonzi took down Medvedev—both in the first round—Diane Parry also knocked out a top seed, Diana Shnaider.
In the end, the outcome is mixed. Ivan Ljubicic, high-performance director at the French Tennis Federation, reviewed the Tricolores' London tournament, still acknowledging some positives.
"If you look at many players individually, it's good. But zero in the round of 16 is not good. It's hard to give a positive assessment, but many players did something positive.
Bonzi did well. Jacquemot qualified and lost in three sets to Bencic—that's good. Royer did his thing, he's solid, I love his mindset. It's hard to evaluate. We lost a lot of five-set matches, tiebreaks...
Honestly, I feel things are changing. A while back, when we lost in the third round of a Grand Slam, the reaction was: 'Ah well, that's how it is...' Now, it's different—we don't accept it, we're not happy.
We were missing our No. 1 (Arthur Fils), let's not forget that. But Diane (Parry) had a big opportunity, Rinderknech too. Facing Majchrzak after beating Zverev... Those are tough situations to digest.
As for Ugo Humbert, I think he lost confidence after playing through a hand injury during the clay season, along with losses. And regaining confidence isn't simple.
Playing Gaël (Monfils), for him especially, is complicated. Hard courts will be much easier for him. We hope he’ll find his rhythm again," he explained to *L’Équipe*.
