Jacquemot Dominates Her Compatriot Cornet and Advances to Wimbledon Main Draw

Elsa Jacquemot (22 years old) faced another French player, Alizé Cornet (35 years old), in the third round of Wimbledon qualifying.
After 1 hour and 29 minutes of play, Cornet saw her dreams of reaching the main draw slip away. She had come out of retirement a few months ago for one last dance on the courts. Despite a strong fight in the first set, the 35-year-old player eventually succumbed to her compatriot in two sets (7-5, 6-1) and will not step onto the courts of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.
As for Jacquemot, she continues her impressive Grand Slam performances after reaching the third round at Roland-Garros. Having already defeated Bulgaru and Rodionova, and now Cornet, the world No. 115 joins her fellow French players Parry and Gracheva, who also secured their spots. This marks the second time in her career that she has reached this stage of the competition.
