Jeanjean Eliminated by Pareja, 16, in Bogota Open Quarterfinals

The last remaining French player in the WTA 250 Bogota draw, Léolia Jeanjean, will not advance to the semifinals. In Colombia, the 29-year-old, who had previously defeated Kathinka Von Deichmann and her compatriot Selena Janicijevic in straight sets each time, was beaten by Julieta Pareja.
Born in February 2009, the 16-year-old American, ranked 550th in the world and coming through qualifying, has yet to drop a single set in her run. After defeating Carol Zhao (7-5, 6-1) and Eva Vedder (6-4, 6-4) to enter the main draw, Pareja then dominated Maria José Sanchez Uribe (6-1, 6-1) before eliminating Patricia Maria Tig (6-3, 7-6).
This time, Pareja overcame Jeanjean (7-6, 6-3) and advances to the semifinals, where she will face another player who successfully fought through qualifying: Katarzyna Kawa.
The 32-year-old Pole caused an upset by defeating last year's finalist and top seed Marie Bouzkova in the quarterfinals late Friday night (5-7, 6-1, 7-5).
Meanwhile, defending champion and crowd favorite Camila Osorio remains in contention. The 23-year-old Colombian comfortably eliminated Tatjana Maria (6-1, 6-3) and will face Julia Riera, who defeated Lea Boskovic (6-3, 2-6, 6-1) to reach the semifinals.
