Jeanjean Reaches Her First Main Draw Quarterfinal in 2025 at Bogotá

In the round of 16 of the WTA 250 tournament in Bogotá, the last two French players competing in Colombia battled for a spot in the quarterfinals. The match featured Léolia Jeanjean and Selena Janicijevic.
This was their second meeting of the season after their clash in the third round of Australian Open qualifying, which Jeanjean won. This time, a place in the quarterfinals of a WTA 250 was at stake.
But, just like in Melbourne, the current world No. 116 prevailed over her younger compatriot (6-4, 6-3).
For a spot in the semifinals, she will face American Julieta Pareja, ranked 550th in the world, who became the youngest WTA quarterfinalist since 2021 at just 16 years old. Pareja, who came through qualifying, defeated Patricia Maria Tig (6-3, 7-6).
With this latest victory, Jeanjean temporarily climbs to No. 107 in the WTA rankings, inching closer to her career-high ranking (No. 102).
Also worth noting, top seed Marie Bouzkova secured her place in the quarterfinals after defeating Raluca Serban (6-1, 6-3). She will next face Katarzyna Kawa, who upset Laura Pigossi (1-6, 7-6, 6-3).
