Keys Surprised by Kalinskaya at Charleston Tournament
Madison Keys, the No. 2 seed at the WTA 500 Charleston tournament, was eliminated in the round of 16 by Anna Kalinskaya.
The American fell in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4, in just 1 hour and 20 minutes of play. She managed to convert only one of the eight break points she earned.
In her post-match on-court interview, Kalinskaya expressed great satisfaction: "This win is special. I needed it for my confidence.
I had an unfortunate start to the year. It’s good to come back and perform at such a high level."
The Russian will face Sofia Kenin in the quarterfinals.
