Lokoli to Retire in 2026 and Hopes to Play Roland-Garros One Last Time

Ranked 405th in the world, Laurent Lokoli is soon set to call time on his professional tennis career. The 30-year-old player, who lost in the final of the Ajaccio Challenger to Antoine Escoffier last weekend (7-6, 7-6), made a major announcement after his defeat, stating that he plans to retire in the spring of 2026.
For this, he hopes to receive a wild card to compete at Roland-Garros, as he confirmed on social media.
"I’d like to clarify that Roland-Garros 2026 will potentially be my last tournament. That’s my wish, but I don’t want my words to be misinterpreted.
If I don’t have the ranking, I’ll need a WC (wild card). If I don’t get one, no problem—thank you, tennis," he wrote on X (formerly Twitter). Lokoli achieved his career-high ranking in 2023, when he was ranked 167th in the ATP.
