Medvedev takes advantage of Kecmanovic's withdrawal to reach the third round
Daniil Medvedev didn't have to exert himself much. Up against an in-form Miomir Kecmanovic, the Russian took advantage of his opponent's injury to qualify after less than an hour (6-1, 5-0 ab.).
There's not much to say about this match, as Kecmanovic's injury distorted the proceedings. On a day disrupted by rain, the world number 5 took advantage of the roof on the Lenglen and his opponent's injury to qualify in a very short space of time. After a difficult first round (victory over Koepfer, 6-3, 6-4, 5-7, 6-3), he will now be able to save his energy, while the rest of the tournament could well prove more perilous.
In the third round, he will face the winner of the match between Machac and Navone. A match that will surely tell us a little more about his real level of play.
