Mensik, who defeated Muller, cools down the atmosphere on Court 14 and advances to the second round at Roland-Garros

One of the highlights of this Tuesday at Roland-Garros was the match between Jakub Mensik and Alexander Muller. The Czech, ranked 19th in the world, won the Miami Masters 1000 and is already showing great maturity. In this match against a tough French opponent, he once again displayed great mental strength to prevail in four sets.
The first three sets were very tight on a buzzing Court 14. Mensik broke at the perfect moment, at 5-5 in the first set, to then conclude on his serve.
In the second, the two men were separated in a tiebreaker. More solid in the crucial moments, Alexander Muller equalized with a winning forehand, which only increased the hope of the spectators, who created a wild atmosphere until the last point.
But Mensik made the difference at the end of the third set. Trailing by a break, he saw Muller serving for the set but making a poor service game. Ultimately, the 19th seed of this tournament overcame a 40/0 deficit on the Frenchman's serve at 6 games to 5 to regain the advantage.
After enjoying a moment of taunting amid the crowd's whistles, the Czech pulled away definitively in the fourth set, thanks to an early break.
He confirmed by winning all his service games. Despite Muller saving three match points on his serve, Mensik, more solid (60 winners, 20 aces, and 3 break points saved), logically prevailed after a high-quality and intense match (7-5, 6-7, 7-5, 6-3 in 3h19 of play). He will face either Nikoloz Basilashvili or Henrique Rocha for a place in the round of 32.
