Mirra Andreeva sets the tone: "My main goal for 2025 is to break into the top 10".
In a WTA 500 tournament in Brisbane where one seed after another is disappearing, Mirra Andreeva is holding her own for the time being.
The 17-year-old Russian will be in the quarter-finals for the second year running in the Australian city, following her victory over Linda Noskova (6-3, 6-0).
The number 8 seed in Brisbane reacted on court after her victory over the Czech and affirmed her ambition for the coming season.
"I'm very happy to be back in the quarter-finals here. Last year, Linda almost killed me at this stage of the competition, so I thought it was time to take my revenge (Noskova dominated Andreeva 7-5, 6-3 in the same tournament last year).
My main goal for 2025 is to break into the top 10. For the moment, I'm just trying to do my best in Brisbane, because it's only the first tournament of the season.
I'm going to give it my all and we'll see if I can achieve that goal or not," said the semi-finalist at the last French Open, currently ranked 16th on the WTA rankings.
