Monfils: "One of my finest matches of 2024
Gaël Monfils recently published a YouTube video in which he discussed a number of topics. Answering a variety of questions from his fans, Monfils opened up in no uncertain terms.
Asked about his best performance of the season, he chose his victory over Hubert Hurkacz in the second round of Indian Wells (6-0, 6-7, 6-2). A surprising choice, given that the Frenchman had beaten Carlos Alcaraz in Cincinnati later in the season.
He explained: "I think it was in a match against Hubert Hurkacz at Indian Wells. I started very well, won the first set 6-0, lost the second set after a break, but won the third 6-3 or 6-4.
I was playing at a very good level, and as he was in the top 10 at the time, for me it's one of my finest matches of 2024."
