Osaka ends three-match losing streak with first-round win on Bad Homburg grass
Competing at the WTA 500 in Bad Homburg this week thanks to a wild card, Naomi Osaka secured her first grass-court victory of the year.
The former world No. 1 faced a tough draw against Olga Danilovic, ranked 36th globally and coming through qualifying with wins over Schunk and Starodubtseva. In a match where neither player dropped serve, Osaka ultimately made the difference in two tiebreaks, winning 7-6, 7-6 in 2 hours and 4 minutes.
The Japanese star will face a sterner test in the second round when she takes on world No. 10 Emma Navarro.
