Ruud Dominates Bautista Agut and Advances to the Round of 16 in Monte-Carlo
Ruud kicked off his Monte-Carlo tournament in impressive fashion, cruising past Bautista Agut with ease (6-2, 6-1). Still chasing his first Masters 1000 title, the Norwegian had reached the final of the Monaco tournament in 2024.
At the start of this season, the world No. 10 has struggled to find his rhythm, despite a finals appearance in Dallas (defeated by Shapovalov 7-6, 6-3).
A clay-court specialist, the two-time Roland-Garros finalist (2022 and 2023) is determined to perform well in the tournaments leading up to the Parisian Grand Slam. This marks his first victory on the surface this year.
In the round of 16, he will face the winner of the match between Tiafoe and Popyrin.
