Shanghai Masters 1000: A Ball Change for a More Explosive Tournament?
Out with Wilson, in with Yonex: The Shanghai tournament is changing its balls starting in 2024. They are expected to help the tournament regain speed.
Known for its fast surface, the Shanghai Masters 1000 (October 1-12) will welcome the top ATP players with a change regarding the balls.
On social media platform X, the account Tennis Masterr indicates that starting this year, the balls used by the players will be from the brand Yonex. Lighter and wearing out less quickly, they will allow the event to be a bit faster than previous editions.
Novak Djokovic, last season's runner-up, had mentioned that the conditions had become a bit slower due to the balls.
There's no doubt that players will be questioned on the topic once they have completed their first training sessions at the tournament site next week.
