Swiatek, far too strong, wins her 4th French Open title!
Iga Swiatek continues to write her Roland Garros legend. At the age of 23, the Pole has just won the Parisian tournament for the 4th time overall and for the 3rd consecutive time (2020, 2022, 2023, 2024).
In Saturday's final, the world number 1 was once again far too strong. She dominated Jasmine Paolini, who played a good match, in just over an hour and two sets (6-2, 6-1). This is also her 5th Grand Slam title, adding the US Open 2022 to her 4 Parisian crowns.
Paolini didn't let the stakes get her down under the Parisian sun. She entered her final perfectly, playing her tennis without any hang-ups. The Italian was even the first to make the difference, breaking for a 2-1 lead after 14 minutes.
But Swiatek reacted perfectly to her opponent's excellent start. Without panicking, she raised her game to quickly neutralize Paolini tactically and regain control of the match.
Thanks in particular to her backhand, excellent as it had been throughout the tournament, she was able to rack up points and games. 50 minutes later and 11 games out of 12 won, the world No.1 could raise her arms to the cheers of the Court Philippe Chatrier crowd.
Incredibly impressive!
