United Cup: Ruud dominates Hurkacz, mixed doubles decisive between Norway and Poland
After Iga Swiatek's victory, Poland were in a good position to claim first place in the group final against the Czech Republic.
However, they'll have to wait a little longer, as Norway, who are in a poor position in this tournament, have not said their last word.
Casper Ruud, who had already won his singles match against Tomas Machac in the first match, did it again and dominated Hubert Hurkacz to completely change the face of this opposition between the two countries.
The Norwegian prevailed 7-5, 6-3, forcing the nations to go head-to-head in the decisive mixed doubles match to follow.
A Polish victory in the doubles will eliminate Norway from the competition, while if the opposite happens, the Scandinavian country can still hope to qualify directly for the quarter-finals.
To do so, Poland will have to overcome the Czech Republic in their final group match.
