Unstoppable in Kitzbühel, Bublik Claims His Second Consecutive Title
Alexander Bublik has lived a dream two weeks on clay.
After reaching the quarterfinals at Roland-Garros, the Kazakh chose to return to clay after Wimbledon for the first time in his career.
Having grown fond of the surface's characteristics, Bublik quickly became the favorite. He first dominated the competition in Gstaad last week before repeating the feat in Kitzbühel.
In today’s final, Bublik dashed Arthur Cazaux’s hopes of winning a maiden ATP title. The two faced off again after their semifinal clash in Gstaad. As in Switzerland, Bublik prevailed in straight sets, this time with a score of 6-4, 6-3.
With this second title in less than a week and his third of the season, he will return to the top 25. Following Ruud in 2021 and Berrettini in 2024, Bublik is the third player to achieve the Gstaad-Kitzbühel double.
