Venus Williams knocked out in Washington's 2nd round by Frech
Venus Williams had surprised everyone by defeating Peyton Stearns in the first round of Washington.
Unfortunately for the American, the journey ended in the second round against Magdalena Frech.
Venus was no match for the world No. 24 and fell with a straight-set score of 6-2, 6-2 in just 1 hour and 13 minutes of play.
Frech said after her victory: "She's a superstar. It was very emotional for me to handle this match. It's truly incredible. I can't imagine myself on a court in 17 years. No chance."
Williams will play again at the WTA 1000 in Cincinnati from August 7 to 18 and likely also at the US Open.
