Victorious in Miami, Mensik Becomes the First of His Generation
By winning the Miami final against Djokovic (7-6, 7-6), Mensik achieved a remarkable feat. Born in 2005, the 19-year-old player becomes the first of his generation to win a Masters 1000 title.
He now joins the ranks of Alcaraz (2003), Sinner (2001), Tsitsipas (1998), and even Nadal (1986).
Thanks to this performance, the Czech player has risen from 54th to 24th in the ATP rankings. His previous best result in a Masters 1000 was a quarterfinal in Shanghai in 2024, where he lost to Djokovic (6-7, 6-1, 6-4).
