With Cahill, we have very different roles," Vagnozzi explains in detail their respective roles with Sinner
In an interview shared by *Punto de Break*, Simone Vagnozzi, Jannik Sinner’s current coach, gave rare insights into the role he shares with former Australian player Darren Cahill. The two men bear the heavy responsibility of guiding the world No. 1 to victory in nearly every tournament.
"I must say I’m very lucky to have met someone like Darren, both professionally and personally. We connected immediately. It’s never easy to find that kind of chemistry, but we’ve always prioritized Jannik’s best interests.
In practice, we have different roles: I handle the more technical and tactical aspects, while he focuses more on the mental and emotional side. Of course, we share everything, and the most important thing is that Sinner always hears one unified voice. Honestly, for now, nothing is certain (regarding Cahill’s departure). But we’d all be happy if Darren stays.
We’re talking about athletes who are so demanding that they don’t just want friends, so to speak, but people who help them reach their full potential. They want honest people who sometimes tell them things they don’t want to hear. I believe the best coaches are those who achieve great results with different athletes.
It’s up to us to figure out how to bring them value, and that’s why we have to be like chameleons—because you can’t use the same method with different players.
