WTA Hobart: Mertens and Yastremska headline, Gracheva a strong presence
The day after the players registered to take part in the WTA 500 tournament in Adelaide were announced, Hobart followed suit, announcing which players would be attending the annual event in Tasmania.
The event takes place in the same week as Adelaide, from January 6 to 12, just before the first Grand Slam in Melbourne.
In Adelaide, fourteen of the world's top twenty players will be present.
Inevitably, this has an impact on the cast of players who will be in Hobart. World No. 33 and reigning finalist Elise Mertens will headline the tournament.
Dayana Yastremska, semi-finalist at the Australian Open in 2024 and 34th in the world, will be putting the finishing touches to her preparations for the Australian Major.
Amanda Anisimova, Magda Linette, Lulu Sun, Camila Osorio and Sloane Stephens will also be in attendance.
The only Frenchwoman in the final draw is Varvara Gracheva, last year's eighth-place finisher in the same tournament.
