Zverev too strong for Muller
Alexandre Muller could only hold out for a short time.
Having beaten Walton in the first round, the Frenchman was no match for Alexander Zverev on Wednesday.
Courageous, he initially resisted the world number 4, coming within two points of clinching the second act.
Muller then missed his chance and exploded in the face of a German who was gaining in power as the match wore on.
Winning in just under 2h30 (6-4, 7-6, 6-1), Zverev continued to gradually establish his game.
For a place in the second week, he will face Etcheverry, ranked 33rd in the world and winner of Cerundolo in 5 sets (6-3, 4-6, 6-4, 1-6, 6-3).
