giving a bye in this format makes no sense whatsoever, what about all the fans of WTA, the millions watching around the world waiting for a match to be played.
......that's why there is a thing called an alternative, a player who takes the place of another injured who cannot play.

OK, back to the match.

Kiki & Ash's H2H is 0 - 5.

But Kiki has been fighting for this opportunity for 7 weeks now, 28 tournaments in all, drove from Zhuhai 100 miles to this tournament Sunday night. She's committed. So I'm sure she'll give a good account of herself.

Not too sure her heart was in it last week when she really wanted to be playing here.

But looks like it'll be Ash in 3.

Hope Kiki can cause an upset.

This is the point both Halep and Bianca play injured or slightly recovered from injuries. So, I don't see none of them favorite. In my opinion Svitolina and Barty will be the finalists, eventually with a plus for the Australian to win.
