Looks like this tournament will go to the last girl (woman) standing. Literally.

Karolina played a high level match throughout against Simona.

If she can play to that level today I think she wins.

But can she repeat that performance back to back

The whole Tournament in Zhuhai is kind of nonsense - either you have a final of the top 8 +2 alternates or one of the top 16 but to have a second one - just means double duty/chance for people like Bertens ...

ATP is not better just different.
You can not compare the ATP & the WTA

When you have massive star's like the BIG 3 who have so much power & say in how things are done.

Maybe the Top women need to get together & tell the WTA how they want things [court style etc.], or what is the point of being a Top 10 player.

The ppl running the WTA haven't got a clue & could learn a lot from how ATP do things,

If there's an extra week between ZhuhaI & this tournament then Bertens doesn't get injured.

The 9th Seed who plays in Zhuhai is always gonna be an alternate this week, so give them & everyone an extra week to prepare.

The court is the main reason there have been so many injuries.
Every one of the 8/10 players that played this week week would prefer a faster court you can slide on that is easier on the body.

So WHY does the WTA give the players such a terrible court, with so much money on the line & the reputation of the WTA on the line?

Makes no sense. WTA do not have a clue.

Just checking Bencic played 25 tournaments, Bertens even 26 - a lot of the others under 20 - Svitolina played 21. Of course it also depends on how far you go - but even if you only play one or two matches it is different from a week of systematic training and recovery.

The Big 3 worked and gained that power - top ten players in the ATP do not have that influence so neither do top ten WTA players.

Wanst it fair game when the wta had dominate players like Graff? in fact people liked the wta back then

Doesnt the ATP have such courts? are organizations supposed to change the court because the players do not like it? clay season would have been cancelled if things worked that way. yeah the alternate thing is a joke
