Jeet I don't agree. Roger got back to number 1 after age 29 and was in the top 3 till recently and he is 35 now. Novak is just having an end of season meltdown. I really wouldn't write him off. Andy is also 29 don't forget, but yes can obviously make number 1

Congrats Bautista!! He is a player that over the years have steadily become better and I was sure a few years ago that he should be competing about the last spots of the major tournaments. He'll never become no 1 but sure has the great game inside of him which he proved today. Then of course as someone said Novak hasn't been the same last couple of months but a great player takes his chance which Bautista did.

Who are Novak's main rivals? In fact when you break down the stats the eras emerge where first Roger, then Rafa and finally Novak dominated.



I don't mean to be rude to Murray fans, in fact Murray is a real superstar tennis player, better than almost anyone - but still in the shadow of the big three. This year Murray has found another level according to me, maybe even higher than the level he had when he won his first Wimbledon. Right now the biggest scene is his but that has definitely not been the case previously.



My point remains: Novak had to fight extremely hard to find a way not only to beat one, but two of the sports all time greats, that mission is accomplished and he must find other equally strong motivators in order to sustain the hard work required to stay fit and constantly evolve to defend the top position. I'm not saying that this is the explanation for the decline, I just wonder if it is a factor and how important the factor in that case is.
