Playing at home allows me to relive my childhood and distance myself from tennis," says Shapovalov
Denis Shapovalov, a native of Toronto, will return to the city where he grew up next week during the Canada Masters 1000.
In a press conference, he explained how playing at home is beneficial for him: "Of course, I love going to a lot of restaurants, but the most important thing for me is to see my family and friends when I’m here.
Spending time with them is essential. It allows me to relive my childhood and, at the same time, it allows me to distance myself from tennis and feel like a normal boy.
I'm not used to spending a lot of time with them; they all have their families, they can't travel that much because they have their own lives, so it's important to devote time to them during these weeks.
