Would like to see Jiri win this. Shapo needs alignment.

At least Shapo is throwing in a some serve and volleys.

Shapo is a nut job. He really does need head work. As well as fine tuning, can not expect to get better if he remains a banger. He lacks finesse. I am not a fan of his game at all.

No doubt he has ability. But he really hasn't seemed to improve or progress with his game for a while. And he relies on his power, which often goes errant, when he could use 'touch' instead. I think he's sloppy and erratic.

Last year on the 22nd of July, Shapovalov lost to another Czech tennis player Vit Kopriva. ( 6-2, 3-6, 2-6). I didn't forget that summer match, because he made terrible mistakes...Now it looks the same

Power is only one aspect of the game.

First ATP tour match. For a win! Impressive. And taking out a 12th ranked no less. And 5th seed in this tournament in the first round. Bravo.

Definitely possible, risk of upset here

Shapo has had good slam runs so is clearly very talented just unfortunately as you say he doesn’t have the right shot choices at all, he also seems to lack motivation in smaller events and hasn’t had a lot of really good runs in tournaments consistently. Must be frustrating, he’s extremely talented just can’t handle the talent as other players on tour have better results with a smaller game, just they can handle themselves and shots in matches so much better.

Hope Jiri can serve this out.

Good that shapo lost.
Have not been a fan of his lately....needs to work on his mental game. Less complains and more game.
