Next time... After winning two sets one may pretend injury and take a win
TroickiWithCancer
Man, this match will be remembered for all the wrong reasons. Grigor left it all out on the court today, and honestly, deserved to win. Outplayed Sinner till he badly hurt himself out of nowhere. One of the most tragic tennis matches ever

Its a pity. Dimitrov could have pulled it off, but his body gave up (a 4th time in a row on a grandslam level). Astonishing

Sinner didn't show sportsmanship at all. While Gregor was having a discussion with the doctor, which should be private, sinner went over and stood right next to them listening in. That's inexcusable behaviour.

We're you even watching it? He was trying to give some emotional support to a player who obviously, beyond obviously, was upset as he knew he had to retire. Massive respect between the two and clearly some friendship there. Sinner helped him grab his stuff to go off court in the end. Crazy what people find to complain about when they could easily acknowledge how well Sinner coped and assisted while his opponent went through hell.

People have some compassion for Gregor. I hope he can play after that injury. I also give credit to Sinner for the sportsmanship he showed toward Gregor.

Yes, it's heartbreaking.

Sinner is lucky

Lucky Sinner goes through the next round, and Dimitrov was better in every department in this game.

Dimitrov couldn't lift his hand during the service, hope he recovers quickly before the next tournament.

Such fixed bullshit. Im done with this fake fixed sport

Injuries are a thing. Tennis is such an athletic high energy sport, you're going to find it doesn't take a lot to make a player need to retire. At his age he can't just risk it and force things, he was done.

.... what a moron you are. Overplayed his capabilities? Clearly weren't watching

I think he meant he was playing to his max for a long time and got injured. He was particularly maxing out his serve over and over again. Had a big impact in the end. Sometimes you have to try to understand the context in which a statement is made, rather than the words on their own.

They have to change the rules please! How can someone lead two sets and retired to give the loser a win because he retired even leading two sets to nothing

Its a best of 5 sets match unfortunately, would be completely unfair on Sinner to give him the loss, Jannik will have had full belief he could win that match. Heartbreaking end though, Jannik Sinner is one lucky boy

Err... its rather obvious why sinner is the winner. Dimi, had only won 2 sets, you need to win 3. Sinner is effectively a 3-2 winner as Dimi was unable to play the last 3 sets out. Fine be frustrated it's unlucky for dimi, but keep it real.
