Zverev just came out playing 120% compared to his usual level. Nadal for his first match actually played nice. Had he played lower ranked players to get into the groove probably a different match.

He can look forward to Wimbledon

Not being the night match gives Nadal a chance. The other aspect to consider. Nadal has nothing to lose where Zverev one of the favourites has everything to lose. If Zverev isn't serving well Nadal has a glimmer of hope. He's not what he was but 137-3 record in best of 5 on clay. Says you can't write him off.

Mostly Rafa would pull out. Better for Rafa to play till French Open next year which is just one year away by getting into fitness, with better match practice, form etc in the interim
