Tragedy? Really Adam. A bit over dramatic, almost hysterical, about an injury isn't it? Djoke himself said the knee has been an issue for a while. Perhaps the wise thing would have been to address the issue earlier and not play using anti-inflammatories to mask the pain resulting in a more serious issue.

Besides, given his performances thus far this year, he had no real chance at winning this years RG.

Alcaraz became the number one when they banned him from playing because of the Covid. Sinner became the number one when Nole got injured. Too bad.
But, to be honest, Sinner deserved it because he was very dominant at the beginning of the season. Alcaraz also deserved it but one year later after the Wimbledon win.

He probably did a lot more damage to his knee by popping all those magic pills & playing thru to the end of the match, if the truth be known.

It was the stupidest thing he could have done. I mean, if it was mayyyybe the final of a grand slam or the olympics, I could see it. But in a round 16? Dumb, dumb, dumb.

What a shame for all Novak's haters! We were rooting for the GOAT and he accomplished that. You have chosen the wrong GOAT and you had to suffer in the previous 10-15 years. And the pain will stay forever because he will stay the GOAT

It's a meniscus tear... knee... mri scan confirmed.
It's amazing that he managed to complete the last 3 sets yesterday and even win in the end. 30 minutes after he took the second portion of painkillers on the court, he played like injury free almost, but once it cooled down, it was all over for him at RG...

Further tests will determine whether surgery is going to be needed or not...
