It is factual, any professional player not playing competitions for more than 7 weeks is rusty for pressure points, even me at my level I can feel that so I can imagine how it is for top players

I never want to think about djoke. He's gross. And he brought on that maelstrom. All by his little self. If he was a mental giant, as some claim him to be, he wouldn't need this excuse. Before the tournament he pronounced he was fit and ready. So spare me, please. He's full of doubt and confusion. A farce really.

How great for Rublev. He's so deserving of this title.

Thanks Julien for that background info to Jiri's struggles over the years. It demonstrates how personal circumstances and life situations can interfere with developing a career and fulfilling potential.

I recall watching the junior AO final many years ago where Jiri blew away Luke Saville and thinking Jiri had a big game to become a top 10 player but it never happened. He sort of popped up from time to time, won some matches but then disappeared for long stretches.

Hopefully Jiri can use this tourament as a re-launch pad to get his career on track and working hard to get a bit fitter.

I'd imagine the peace loving Ruby is playing with a heavy heart today with all that is happening. But he's a wise soul and his proper perspective will carry him through this final. I admire him immensely.

I disagree. Players, many, can handle being out for 7 weeks. Fan or no fan of djoke's, you're just making excuses for his poor performance. How do you explain the Olympics and the USO then?

An outstanding junior and now finds form, a world beater knocking off Novak and into a ATP final.

Hopefully Vesely can pull this off

@Bobo he had surgeries quite young, ups and downs in his personal life (not the musetti type of excuses), and less than a year ago the car crash with his parents
The guy wasn't on the court as he wanted to, out of tennis multiple times, even with a good level you need practice/training and preparation

That excuse about no preparation is lame.

Look what Rafa has been accmplishing, after months off and surgery, barely walking. You djoke fans crack me up with your excuses.
