German tennis superstar, Angelique Kerber has made it into the second round of the 2019 WTA Adelaide International in Australia. At this stage of the tournament, Angelique Kerber is set to play against Dayana Yastremska from Ukraine.



Dayana Yastremska played well in the opening round as she Timea Babos in straight sets. The serving was especially strong as she hit 9 aces which helped her win 74% of her service points. Dayana Yastremska won all of her service games and 2 return games to secure the victory. Dayana Yastremska had a tough start to the season as she was eliminated in the opening round of the Brisbane International. This is expected to be a challenging match for Yastremska as she is playing against an elite player in Kerber.



Looking at Angelique Kerber, the German superstar looked very strong during the opening round as she defeated Wang Qiang in straight sets. As usual, Angelique Kerber’s defensive game was exceptional and that allowed her to receive serve well. Kerber is looking in good touch and she should be tough to beat in this tournament.

Dayana Yastremska has shown great promise over the past 12 months but she has not looked her best over the past few matches. With that in mind, I am picking Angelique Kerber to win this match. Kerber looked in exceptional form during the previous round and I see her bringing that form into this match. Angelique Kerber is the stronger player and I see her being good enough to secure a spot in the quarterfinals.
