Muguruza: "Nadal is more reserved in this respect".

Muguruza: Nadal is more reserved in this respect.

Garbine Muguruza is no longer a professional tennis player.

Retired since last April, the Spaniard is far from having left the world of tennis.

Appointed tournament director of the WTA Finals in Riyadh in May, she was keen to talk about the relationship between players and journalists.

Speaking to our Esquire colleagues, the winner of the 2016 French Open discussed the differences in character between herself and two other Spanish players, Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz.

Muguruza explained: "There are times when you think a lot about what you say, especially so that it doesn't backfire.

I like to say what I think. Rafa Nadal is more reserved in this respect.

I like Carlos Alcaraz, I see him as more self-confident, younger, I see that he talks more and says what he thinks.

I think people appreciate that too, and the fact that he doesn't always measure his words."
