Australian Open 2025: Monday's schedule features a heavyweight line-up

This Sunday, January 12, sees the start of the first round of the Australian Open main draw for both men and women.

Two-time title-holder Aryna Sabalenka will be the main headliner. Alexander Zverev and Casper Ruud will also be taking to the courts in Melbourne.

The rest of the first round is scheduled for Monday January 13. While the final schedule will not be known until Saturday, we now know the identity of the players who will begin their journey at the Australian Major.

Defending champion and world number 1, Jannik Sinner, will face Nicolas Jarry, while the record holder of the number of trophies won in Melbourne, Novak Djokovic, is also scheduled to start the week.

The Serb, who has won the Australian Open ten times, will take on Nishesh Basavareddy. Carlos Alcaraz will begin his quest for the only Grand Slam missing from his trophy cabinet against Alexander Shevchenko.

Stefanos Tsitsipas, a finalist in 2023, will face Alex Michelsen in one of the great first-round matches.

In the women's draw, Iga Swiatek (against Siniakova) and Coco Gauff (against Kenin) will open their tournaments in Melbourne.

Osaka and Garcia will face each other for the second year running in Melbourne, while Jelena Ostapenko and Belinda Bencic will also face off.
